Ida has weakened to tropical storm strength, and is succumbing to the hostile atmospheric and oceanic conditions. Its windfield covers a large area, and the area of heavy rain is moving ahead of the storm's centre. Ida will start to undergo transitioning to non-tropical status after making landfall on the northern Gulf coast and veer sharply east.

Please note: Warnings regarding Ida will only be relayed through the NHC for as long as the system is deemed to be a tropical cyclone. Once Ida is a non-tropical area of low pressure, the local weather agency advisories should be followed.
