SOUTHERN INDIAN OCEAN
Tropical cyclone 11S
Warning 02 from JTWC at 0900 GMT
Position 14.6S 68.6E
Location 700 miles ENE of Mauritius
Movement 300° (WNW) at 10 knots
Maximum sustained winds 40 knots gusting to 50 knots
Winds of 34 knots or higher occur within 35 to 50 miles of the centre
Threatened landmasses Rodrigues, La Reunion
Maximum significant wave height 14 feet

11S will move west, later southwest, whilst initially intensifying slowly. After a day or so, the storm will strengthen more rapidly, and veer south. 11S is expected to peak at 70 knots after four days. Uncertainty in the track forecast means that the Mascareigne Islands should monitor closely the progression of this system - 11S will pass close to Rodrigues on Saturday.
