Location 170 miles SSW of Morgan City, Louisiana
Movement 310° (NW) at 7 knots
Maximum sustained winds 50 knots gusting to 65 knots
Winds of 34 knots or higher occur within 275 miles to the north and east of the centre
Minimum central pressure: 997 mbar
Threatened landmasses Louisiana, Texas
Next warning from NHC at 1200 GMT

Cindy is moving northward motion through the Gulf of Mexico. It will make landfall near the Louisiana / Texas border on Thursday.

Regional warnings
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from San Luis Pass (Texas) to the Alabama / Florida border; Metropolitan New Orlenas and Lake Pontchartrain.

Rainfall totals of 6 to 9 inches, locally up to 12 inches, over southeastern Louisiana, southern Mississippi, southern Alabama, and
the Florida Panhandle. This could cause life-threatening flash-floods.

Totals of 3 to 5 inches with isolated locally up to 6 inches can be expected farther west across western Louisiana and eastern Texas.

Inundations of 1 to 3 feet, locally up to 4 feet, can occur as a result of storm surge in the warning area.

Tornadoes are possible from southern Louisiana to western Florida.
