Location 35 miles SW of Tampa, Florida

Emily has formed in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and will move east, across the Florida peninsula. Once in the Atlantic, the system will veer northeast and dissipate.

Regional warnings
A tropical storm WARNING is in force for the west coast of Florida from the Anclote River to Bonita Beach.
Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches, locally up to 8 inches, along the west coast of Florida from Tampa Bay to Naples. Elsewhere in Florida, 1 to 2, locally up to 4 inches, are to be expected.

Irwin is moving north and will gradually weaken. The system will likely lose tropical cyclone status within a day or so.
