Location 165 miles ENE of Veracruz, Mexico
Movement 270° (W) at 11 knots
Maximum sustained winds 60 knots gusting to 75 knots
Winds of 34 knots or higher occur within 140 miles of the centre
Threatened landmasses Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico
Minimum central pressure 985 mbar

Franklin is crossing the Bay of Campeche and will strengthen to 75 knots before making landfall on the Mexican Gulf coast.

A hurricane WARNING is in force for the coast of Mexico between Puerto de Vera Cruz and Cabo Rojo
A hurricane watch is in force from Cabo Rojo to Rio Panuco
A tropical storm WARNING is in force from Puerto de Vera Cruz and Puerto dos Bocas; north of Tuxpan to Barra del Tordo

Rainfall totals of  4 to 8, locally up to 12 inches, can be expected over the Yucatan Peninsula.
Totals of 2 to 4, locally up to  8 inches, can be expected over Belize and northern Guatemala
Totals of 4 to 8, locally up to 15, inches are expected over the Mexican states of Tabasco, northern Veracruz, northern Puebla, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, Queretar and eastern San Louis Potosi. These rains could give rise to potentially life-threatening flash floods and mudslides
A storm surge will elevate water levels 4 to 6 feet above normal tide levels near and north of the point of landfall
