Location 205 miles ESE of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina

Maximum sustained winds 75 knots gusting to 90 knots
Winds of 34 knots or higher occur within 90 miles of the centre
Winds of 64 knots or higher occur within 15 miles of the centre

Chris is now moving northeast, away from the east coast of the USA. The storm will intensify to 85 knots, before weakening. The system will become extra-tropical near Newfoundland, before crossing the Atlantic.
