Chris is now moving northeast, away from the east coast of the USA. The storm will intensify to 95 knots, before weakening. The system will become extra-tropical near Newfoundland, before crossing the Atlantic.

Life-threatening surf and rip-tide conditions will affect the coasts of North Carolina and the mid-Atlantic States.
Rainfall totals of 1 to 3, locally up to 6, inches can be expected over Newfoundland. This could lead to flash flooding.
